Treatment Of Dengue

Dengue is a virus borne disease which is highly contagious and is transmitted by the Aedes Egyptii mosquito which can be identified by the zebra like black and white markings on its thorax and abdomen. The onset of the disease usually starts when the patient feels unwell and runs a low temperature with acute body pains and splitting headache which usually follow within 24 hours after the onset of the  disease.

I am copying below the notes on Dengue from the WHO website on:
http://www.who.int/topics/dengue/en/

“Dengue is transmitted by the bite of an Aedes mosquito infected with any one of the four dengue viruses. It occurs in tropical and sub-tropical areas of the world. Symptoms appear 3—14 days after the infective bite. Dengue fever is a febrile illness that affects infants, young children and adults.
Symptoms range from a mild fever, to incapacitating high fever, with severe headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain, and rash. There are no specific antiviral medicines for dengue. It is important to maintain hydration. Use of acetylsalicylic acid (e.g. aspirin) and non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g. Ibuprofen) is not recommended.

Dengue haemorrhagic fever (fever, abdominal pain, vomiting, bleeding) is a potentially lethal complication, affecting mainly children. Early clinical diagnosis and careful clinical management by experienced physicians and nurses increase survival of patients. ”

I have used the Homeopathic Remedy  Eupatorium Perfoliatum 200c in the Wet dose to treat many patients presenting Dengue and the majority have confirmed that they experienced perceptible relief in about an hour after their first dose, when their throbbing headache left them. They also reported that their excruciating body and joint pains left them within 2-3 hours.  I have received reports from patients who used this therapy that they were CURED within just 3 hours and they were patients who were treated by me within a few hours after they first presented Dengue.

Some patients have reported that they suffered from a low temperature on the second day, perhaps due to the Virus attacking the temperature control center of the body. The patient must rest and drink plenty of fluids till the temperature drops and if it continues, it is best to enter hospital as it is possible that the Blood Platelet count may have dropped in the case of the Hemorrhagic type of the Dengue Flu when more invasive methods of treating the disease with a Blood transfusion may be called for.

It is best to treat all cases of a Fever as Dengue as early as possible at this time,  as we are in the midst of an Epidemic of Dengue in Sri Lanka where I live. There have been reports of many fatalities from Dengue reported in the press and it is essential that this disease is treated with this Miracle Remedy which I shall be glad to supply free of charge to anyone who calls me on 2439422 in Sri Lanka.

The treatment schedule is as follows:

The Remedy is Eupatorium Perfoliatum 200c and this can be purchased from any Homeopathic Pharmacy in your country in the Liquid Dilution in Alcohol. Eupatorium Perfoliatum 200 is used in the Wet dose taken every 2 hours for the first day and every 3 hours thereafter till the patient is cured.

The Wet dose of any Homeopathic remedy is made as follows:

Order the remedy in the Liquid pack in Alcohol, also referred to as Liquid Dilution in a bottle preferably with a dropper arrangement.
Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from the nearest supermarket.
Pour out about 3cm of water from the bottle to leave some airspace.
Insert 3 drops of the remedy Tinto the bottle and shake the bottle hard at least 6 times before you sip a capfull of the bottle or a large teaspoonful which is the dose.
Shaking the bottle hard is homeopathic succussion and this enhances the effect of the remedy on the user.

DENGUE: STOP THIS LOSS OF PRECIOUS LIVES

June 16, 2012, 4:15 pm
I was appalled to read the sad news in the Sunday Island and the Sunday Times of June 10, of the sudden death of two boys, Alastair Senanayake 23 and Damith Amarasuriya 28, the sons of two business magnates in Colombo both of whom succumbed to dengue. As the father of three sons myself, one of whom barely survived an attack of dengue about 10 years ago,  I can well imagine the utter grief of their parents when their son was felled in the prime of his life with a virus disease for which there does not seem to be any cure in medicine.

I have been trying to open the eyes of the medical fraternity for over the last five years when I first discovered that a homeopathic remedy was being used extensively in India to cure dengue,  which I felt could also be used to treat victims of dengue in Sri Lanka,  where the latest statistics of fatalities for this year in the Western Province alone number 65 with over 15,000 victims treated.

The remedy is Eupatorium Perfoliatum 200c and I imported it from India and have given it to many patients who were known to be suffering from dengue in Sri Lanka.

This remedy is given in what is termed the “wet dose” which is made by inserting just three drops of the remedy into a half liter of drinking water sold in the supermarkets. They were all cured within a short period of under 12 hours after taking the first dose of a large teaspoonful (5ml) of the water remedy from the bottle with subsequent doses taken every three hours.

It is a matter of concern that in spite of the fact that I offered to give a group of doctors whom I recently addressed at a meeting, this same homeopathic remedy free of charge, none of them were prepared to accept my offer. They informed me off the record that they dared not do so for fear of the repercussions that could follow by using a homeopathic remedy to treat their patients. They frankly admitted that there did not exist any drug that could be used to treat dengue and this other flu but they could not dare to experiment with any remedy or drug that was not specified in the government Pharmacopea.

I had informed these doctors that I would be medicating sealed bottles of drinking water which I had taken with me for the meeting with the remedy in their presence, and that all they had to do was to give their next patient known to be suffering from dengue or the current flu raging throughout Sri Lanka a dose of the remedy,  but they were all sad that they could not take me up on my offer for use officially in their hospitals.

I do wonder how many more sons and daughters will be sacrificed so very unnecessarily to dengue and the other Virus disease which closely resembles dengue but is not quite as dangerous, which is now prevalent in Colombo today. This other virus also strikes overnight and it will be true to state that at least 5% of the population in the city are infected,  judging by the number of people who are on sick leave in offices or are suffering at home today.

I can personally vouch for the fact that anyone can be infected if bitten by an infected mosquito as I too was infected a few days ago. I was feeling out of sorts with a feeling of lethargy and tiredness on the evening of last Poya day and was feeling decidedly worse the next morning.  I took a dose of this remedy in the morning as soon as I was certain that I was harbouring some virus borne disease. I took the second dose shortly before lunch and was relieved to feel quite normal by evening.

My plea to the doctors,  especially those in the children’s hospitals in the city,  which it is reported, are inundated with thousands of little patients,  is to give this remedy a chance to save their precious lives. The doctors in the hospitals admit that they have lost the battle to do so, as they do not have any drug to cure a patient. The least that can be expected of all those in the medical profession, is to lay aside their prejudice against homeopathy and use the one remedy that can save these precious lives.

A large teaspoonful of this remedy can be given, with any other drugs and medication that they are currently using to treat their patients to a test group as they will then be able to verify from this test group of patients who are given this homeopathic remedy whether it does help to cure dengue and other virus borne diseases in a better manner than those who are not given the remedy.

My plea to the government is to request the Sri Lanka Medical Council to permit the use of this remedy Eupatorium Perfoliatum 200c in the wet dose on a test basis as I feel that this is the only way to break this imbroglio as the doctors are forbidden to use a homeopathic remedy in their hospitals under the rules that govern their work. This remedy has proved to be very effective in CURING dengue and is being used extensively in almost all hospitals in India where dengue and other virus borne infections are prevalent and are even more common than in Sri Lanka.

Doctors have frankly admitted that there is no drug in the Pharmacopeia that can cure dengue and other similar virus borne diseases. I have personal experience that Eupatorium Perfoliatum 200c does cure this disease and have cured many patients who presented dengue and the current virus. It is my fervent hope that the government health authorities permit me to offer this remedy to the doctors in the hospitals free of charge to enable them to save lives especially of their junior patients who are known to be victims of dengue or the flu.

It will be seen that if we succeed in curing dengue and other similar virus borne diseases, this disease can be effectively eradicated from our land as the ubiquitous mosquito will lack any future victims to enable it to carry on with its deadly mission.

Consider other methods to eradicate dengue

Tuesday, 09 August 2011 01:01
Despite all the remedial or preventive measures, the dengue and viral flu epidemics have reached their worst-ever proportions this year with some 115 deaths and more than 14,000 people being affected by dengue. It is clear that western medicine or allopathy has had little effect in curbing the epidemic and the government needs to act urgently in uitilisng remedial measures available in other forms of medicine. Health action groups have for several years been urging the government to work out a National Health Policy where all forms of medicine – ayurveda, alopathy, homoeopathy and acupuncture among others are outlined and the different forms of medicine are used to treat different ailments. While the government works out a National Health Policy as a long-term measure a Sunday newspaper reported that the Sri Lanka representative of Homoeopaths Without Borders says homoeopathy has a safe and effective remedy for dengue and the viral flu.All patients may not be cured as fast and effectively as some have been, but it is known that homoeopathy has no side effects and there is nothing to lose but everything to gain in giving patients this remedy.

According to representative Joe de Livera, who has studied and has been closely associated with this science for the past 40 years and been a consultant on many homoeopathic forums including his own www.joedelivera.com,  this remedy was used at the request of the Colombo Municipal authorities last year by a homoeopath Dr Imthias Latif. He treated patients at municipal centres in Kompanna Veediya, Kuppiyawatta, Mattakkuliya and at the epidemiology centre of the Colombo Municipality. Thousands of patients were treated by this homoeopath and the majority confirmed they were cured overnight.  A meeting was held at the World Health Organisation (WHO) office in Colombo in August last year. It was attended by the WHO chief here, Dr Harsha de Silva the Health Ministry’s Director of Health in charge of the Western Province and several doctors. The discussion centred on promoting the use of homoeopathic remedies, but unfortunately follow up action was not taken.

Last Friday the Health Ministry discussed this possibility and we hope that action will be taken at least now.

Homoeopathy has a specific remedy which has been prescribed and used for more than two centuries but the remedies are highly diluted to infinitesimal levels and do not qualify for logical acceptance of their efficacy, although they have been proved to work to cure many diseases like asthma, eczema, gastritis and fever, to mention just four common diseases that affect people.

The homoeopathy remedy used is Eupatorium Perfoliatum 200c which is often used to treat a disease of viral origin.

The liquid dose method is used in giving remedies where three drops of the remedy are mixed in alcohol into a 500 mililitre bottle of spring water. After just one teaspoon of the remedy many patients are likely to recover.

We hope this cure will be considered seriously by the Health Ministry and western medical professionals for the common good of the people and the country as it is likely to help in eradicating dengue before it reaches endemic proportions.

THE PILL POPPING CULTURE

Saturday, 17 September 2011

Most of us have been brainwashed into believing that life is only possible to be lived to the fullest if the requisite medicinal drugs are taken on a regular basis. Regular health checks are promoted and are being carried out in private hospitals after which the patient is advised by the consultant that unless the drugs prescribed are used, the chances of the patient surviving without catching some life threatening disease in the future are high. It is strange that the patient who does not have any disease is often frightened into taking drugs which can be considered as being unnecessary or non-essential, and are usually sold at high prices often in some hospital pharmacies.

This has led to a pill popping culture that many innocent people, especially those in the upper strata of society, have been following for many years,  purely as ‘insurance’ to ensure that they do not succumb to some disease that has been vaguely mentioned. They are not aware that their reports on blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar are found normal but they have been told it is best to take some drugs to avert the formation of cholesterol and plaque in the arteries and thereby ensure that a possible heart attack in later years, is averted.

It is rarely that the patient is advised to control his or her diet and refrain from eating fatty foods with special reference to fast foods and to also start a daily exercise routine to ensure that he or she sweats it out and replaces the sweat lost with liquids preferably water, in adequate quantities to ensure that the body is kept at peak efficiency.

The unsuspecting patient is not aware that most of the drugs taken have some side effects on the body and this often results in another drug being given at a later consultation to treat the problems caused by the first.  It is also possible that these unnecessary drugs can predispose the patient to other problems and also to be infected by a wide range of diseases including dengue for which there is no known curative drug. But according to Joe De Livera, Sri Lankan representative for Homoeopaths without Borders, a homoeopathic remedy is available for dengue and any other viral flu – as referred to in one of our editorials recently. This is known as Eupatorium Perfoliatum 200c, which is used internationally and has in Sri Lanka, saved the lives of many who caught this disease and were fortunate enough to use this Remedy within a few days after being infected by this highly infectious disease.

Public health experts emphasise that western medical drugs alone cannot possibly cure all diseases in Sri Lanka. There are many forms of alternate medicine practiced here including Ayurveda and Homeopathy both of which are established and practiced and can be co-opted to cure disease, especially Dengue. Unfortunately Homeopathic remedies are not used officially by the medical profession in hospitals where patients continue to suffer as a result of a lack of a National Health Policy. It is fortunate in India that these two curative sciences are accepted and officially used by the government side by side with western medicine to help cure diseases.

Billions of rupees are being spent in importing more than 10,000 varieties of drugs under various brand names. Public health experts have appealed that the state health authorities open their eyes to the realities of life and follow the example of India and make greater use of both Ayurveda and Homeopathy in alleviating human suffering and  eradicating disease.

CURE FOR DENGUE
http://www.dailynews.lk/2011/09/26/fea03.asp

The Times of India gave much publicity recently to two villages where people were rushing to homeopathic clinics to obtain the drug Eupatorium Perfoliatum 200 to fight the dengue epidemic. Here in Sri Lanka, despite the government recently introducing the BTI Bacteria imported from Cuba and spraying it on stagnant pools at considerable cost, the results have been an abject failure and dengue continues to infect the population with over 20,000 cases recorded this year with over 200 fatalities.

A meeting was recently held at the CSR (Centre for Society and Religion) Colombo to commemorate the death anniversary of the late Professor of Pharmacology Dr Balasubramanium. Among the distinguished guests present were some medical doctors. Prof. Carlo Fonseka addressed the audience after which 82 year old Joe de Livera, who still functions as the CEO of a very old family owned business organization in Pettah, also spoke.

As a guest speaker, he delivered a lecture on the efficacy of Eupatorium Perfoliatum 200 which he has successfully prescribed to many patients as the cure for dengue.

“My goal is to spread the news of this amazing Homeopathic remedy that will cure dengue, as widely as is possible, as it has proved to cure a patient in under six hours and saved many lives. What is more important is that it can help to ensure that dengue is eradicated from Sri Lanka and this can only be achieved if the government and the doctors will permit the use of this remedy in hospitals. All that is needed is that the doctors give the patient a teaspoonful of the remedy which is made by medicating bottles of standard drinking water sold in supermarkets, every few hours as prescribed”.

Prejudice

Allopathic Medicine throughout the past century has traditionally been prejudiced against Homeopathy since it has no clinical proof, but the fact remains that it works in some mysterious manner to cure disease, especially dengue.

He also believes that a few other diseases that are often helped and cured by Homeopathy, like Eczema, Asthma, Arthritis, GERD (commonly known as Gastritis), to name only a few, cannot be equalled by drugs. It is this prejudice on the part of the medical profession that he is trying to overcome as he is absolutely convinced that Eupatorium Perfoliatum 200c which has been used for over a century is the ultimate remedy to treat viral diseases spread by mosquitoes. He feels very strongly that the current attitude of doctors to virtually refuse to use the one remedy that will cure dengue can be construed as a violation of the Oath of Hippocrates that they all solemnly took when they first registered as doctors.

Joe de Livera’s plea, especially to the doctors present, was that they use the remedy Eupatorium Perfoliatum in the 200c potency which he prepared to activate in their presence in sealed bottles of spring water to prove that there was nothing else – drug or other substance – used to activate the bottles of spring water. Unfortunately there were no takers!

It is no exaggeration that dengue has reached epidemic levels in Sri Lanka and it is in the hands of the government and the medical profession to give Homeopathy a chance to help cure this epidemic of dengue.

Arnica Montana

Turning briefly to Arnica Montana, he came out with many facts about its use for various diseases which he has collated in his website. He has found the wet dose (a bottle of water activated with just three drops of the Homeopathic remedy) to be far more effective in comparison to the standard dry pellets used by Homeopaths.

“I am a living example of the efficacy of this remedy as I have taken a teaspoonful nightly since 1996 which is almost 16 years ago. I do not use any drugs whatever on a daily basis as many of my age do, except on a SOS basis like after surgery, and I have not required any drugs to treat standard ailments like coughs and colds which are only too common and which I have noticed I do not catch as often as I did before my involvement in Homeopathy. My BP is under 120/80, Pulse around 70 BPM. Cholesterol and Triglycerides are at normal levels.

I believe I have proved that Homeopathy is by far more effective than the drugs that many use on a daily basis”.

“At 82 years of age I do not have any ailment or pain in my body. I use Homeopathic remedies exclusively to treat myself and those have enabled me to maintain my present state of health which is the envy of many who are half my age. Even today I drive myself daily to office to execute my duties as the CEO of my organization, as I have done for the last 60 years”.

After the proceedings many rushed to obtain Arnica 30 which he distributed in bottles of water free of charge. A few wanted the dengue remedy, but unfortunately none of the doctors requested it.

Joe de Livera quipped: “The problem they have is that they depend on disease for their livelihood while in my case I am trying my level best to not only cure, but to also eradicate this dreaded disease even before it strikes anyone. It is the loss of their revenue that the doctors are concerned with, as if by using this remedy, a patient can be cured of his dengue, they stand to lose a considerable slice of their revenue. This remedy when used as a Prophylactic in small weekly doses has proved its efficacy in preventing Dengue and it is unfortunate that the doctors are not agreeable to using it even on a test basis to verify if my findings are true”.

He concluded his speech by referring the audience to his website: www.joedelivera.com in which he has collated a wealth of his experience in the treatment of disease with ‘Joepathy’.

CURE OF 3 SIBLINGS SUFFERING FROM DENGUE

Copied from
http://www.abchomeopathy.com/forum2.php/352415/
Simone

Thank you for directing Alexandra to my website.

It is essential that she and the members of her family take just one remedy as a Prophylactic to ensure that they do not succumb to any Flu based disease like Dengue which is currently raging in Sri Lanka. Dengue is spread by the Mosquito Aedes Egyptii and the recorded fatalities for this year are over 85 cases and counting.

The remedy is Eupatorium Perfoliatum 200 in the Wet dose which is made according to instructions which I shall copy below.

Insert 3 drops of the remedy into the bottle and shake the bottle hard at least 6 times before you sip a capfull of the bottle or a large teaspoonful which is the dose.
Shaking the bottle hard is homeopathic succussion and this enhances the effect of the remedy on the user.

The dose for Prophylaxis is One teaspoon full taken weekly, 2 weeks before departure and after arrival in Sri Lanka or other S Asian country 1 teaspoonful taken every other day. This remedy can be used for any flu based fever of unknown origin.

Dengue comes in 3 manifestations:

Dengue Fever
Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever
Virus Fever with a bad cough for which the remedy is Bryonia 200 and Eupat Perf 200 both taken thrice daily.

It just breaks my heart that doctors who admitted publicly that they do not have any remedy to CURE Dengue just refuse to use the ONE remedy that will CURE it. Eupatorium Perfoliatum 200c in the Wet dose will CURE Dengue within a maximum of 6 hours with patients responding in just 3 hours as reported to me by the grateful parents.

One case which was reported to me by the father was that of 3 children 5, 8 and 11 years old all presenting Dengue with the 8 year old unconscious in just 3 days with a Platelet count of 11000 and in the ICU of the Children’s Hospital located a Kilometer away from my residence. He had fortunately been told by someone in the hospital that I had a Miracle Cure for Dengue and he visited me around 10.30PM one night last week. He was desperate with worry and feared the worst as the doctors had told him that only prayer could help his son’s recovery as he was in the last stages of Dengue and on Oxygen and the IV drip. His temperature was controlled by Paracetamol which had been liberally administered during the day and he was unconscious and obviously sinking.

I gave him the Eupat Perf 200 which I made up into a 500ml bottle of spring water into which I had inserted just 3 drops of the remedy in the Liquid Dilution. I gave it to him with instructions to take it to the ICU and tell the doctors that the water was “Pirith Water” which was blessed by the monks in the Buddhist Temple. I also instructed him to drip the water into the child’s mouth by pulling the cheek gently and insert a few drops at a time to ensure that the child did not choke.

As expected, the doctors refused to permit the father to take the water into the ICU but relented when he insisted on giving the “blessed water” to the child. This was done around 12.30AM and the father was permitted to stay with the child in the ICU. Around 3.00AM the father noticed that the child’s eyes were open and called the nurse who did a Blood Test and discovered that the Platelet count had mysteriously risen to 25000. Around 6.00AM the child was wide awake and demanding water as he was very thirsty but this was prevented by the doctors. The Platelet count was then recorded at 55000 and the doctors had ordered the patient who was hysterical and screaming for water to be taken to the ward where the much needed water was given from the same medicated bottle of the remedy. The child was able to get out of bed around 8.00AM and was obviously well enough along with his siblings who were also given teaspoonfuls of the water and they were all discharged within 36 hours after the father met me.

I believe that the thirst that the little boy had suffered from was due to the liver demanding water to flush out the Paracetamol which the dutiful doctor refused according to his instructions.

It just breaks my heart to know that a CURE for Dengue is at hand but the doctors just refuse to use it as they have been warned to be wary of any medicine not listed in their Pharmacopeia.

I have been informed that the “Ethics Committee” will be meeting shortly and will be inviting me to present my CURE for Dengue to the Medical Fraternity as Dengue is now raging at Pandemic levels and the doctors have no cure for it.

If You’re Not Worried About Dengue Fever, Here’s Why You Should Be

If You’re Not Worried About Dengue Fever, Here’s Why You Should Be

Aided by global warming, the potentially deadly mosquito-borne virus is spreading around the world to an alarming extent

By Charlie Campbell @charliecamp6ell
Nov. 18, 20137

It doesn’t have its celebrity fundraisers, unlike AIDS. It hasn’t made the headlines in the way that bird flu or SARS have. It isn’t feared in the way that polio or TB are, and yet dengue fever can kill and is spreading around the world to an unprecedented degree.

The latest figures from the World Health Organization (WHO) suggest that annual transmissions of the disease may breach 390 million. This year, infections are breaking records all over Asia and Latin America — from sweeping epidemics in Nicaragua to the worse outbreaks in six years in India, 20 years in Thailand and the first homegrown case in Western Australia in seven decades. Even temperate climates are now stalking grounds for dengue-carrying mosquitoes.

Almost 3 billion people, or 40% of the world’s population, live in areas where there is a risk of dengue transmission. Previously known as breakbone fever, owning to the excruciating muscle and joint pain inflicted, dengue first came to the fore in Southeast Asia during World War II, when large numbers of troops were afflicted with it. Up until the 1960s the disease was largely controlled with DDT, which decimated mosquito populations. But the mosquitoes crept back after the chemical was banned for its severe side effects and ever since “we have seen an ever increasing march of the virus into new territories and new recipient populations,” says Paul Young, professor at the University of Queensland in Australia and president of the Australian Society for Microbiology, who has been researching dengue for almost three decades.

Mention dengue and most people will think of aches and chills. But the disease is far more dangerous than that. Dengue causes white-blood-cell counts to plummet, making the body susceptible to secondary infections; even more alarmingly, it has a similar effect to platelets, impairing blood’s ability to clot. If left untreated, and particularly on a second infection, dengue hemorrhagic fever can take hold, and patients can suffer internal bleeding, shock and death.

While malaria rates have fallen 25% worldwide since 2000 — including a 35% drop in Africa, according to the WHO — dengue is seeing a dramatic upsurge. “South America is gearing up for a huge epidemic,” says Young. Asia has been particularly hard-hit, with 51,000 dengue cases in Cambodia and Laos; 96,000 in the Philippines; 135,000 in Thailand; 18,000 in Malaysia; and 15,000 in Singapore by the start of September. The U.S. has not been spared either, with the first case in a major city in Houston and “serious levels” in Florida.

(MORE: Dengue Fever Creeps Back Into the U.S., and Climate Change Isn’t Helping)

Dengue exacts its greatest toll among young children, those with underlying health issues or those do not seek proper medical treatment. Financially — both from medical treatment and lost workdays — it costs billions of dollars globally each year. “It has been a never-ending cycle of increasing numbers,” says Young.

The reason for the swell is simple: vector control. Mosquitoes have more places to breed now that chemical spraying is less effective, and population clusters give the disease areas to propagate. This now includes the temperate climates of Europe and North America. Scientists say global warming may play a part — since associated higher rainfall creates more stagnant water that in turn allows more mosquito larvae to hatch. Young says that dengue’s move “into more temperate zones” is among his greatest concerns, and adds that many major U.S. and European cities will be susceptible to dengue should the trend continue.

So what about a vaccine? Dengue has five strains (the most recent was discovered in Malaysia, although scientists are playing down the risk to humans of that strain) and while some can be vaccinated against, so far protection from all of them has proved elusive. France-based Sanofi Pasteur, the world’s largest vaccine firm, had a inoculation slated for rollout in 2015, but trials earlier this year confirmed protection from only three out of the four dangerous strains. The company still intends to mass-produce the vaccine, and stage-three trials are now under way in Asia and Latin America involving 31,000 subjects. Nonetheless, the partial protection “was a surprise and we need to think more about how dengue works and research,” Dr. Melanie Saville, Sanofi Pasteur chief medical and clinical officer for dengue, tells TIME.

Faced with such challenges, scientists have searched for alternative ways of combating the disease. The team at Eliminate Dengue has been breeding genetically superior mosquitoes infected with Wolbachia bacteria, which essentially prevent the insects from getting dengue (although scientists are not sure exactly why). When released into the general population, these mosquitoes take over their dengue-prone cousins. Trials are currently ongoing in Vietnam with impressive results. “It’s a great piece of science and community engagement,” says Young.

The one thing that will accelerate research into dengue is the new threat it poses to the world’s wealthier regions and countries — however unfair that may seem. Big Pharma does not traditionally focus on developing world problems — Eliminate Dengue’s pioneering work is largely thanks to largesse from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation — but when affluent markets are in the firing line, attitudes change rapidly. “The amount of research work that was going into West Nile virus before it hit New York and spread across the States in 1999 was miniscule,” says Young, “and you can imagine the change. The same thing might happen with dengue.”

I responded with a Letter to the Editor Time Magazine copied below:

The Editor
TIME Magazine

I am glad to note that TIME has devoted some space to highlight Dengue which is rampant here in Sri Lanka where I live and can be considered as an Epidemic today. It is reported that over 5000 patients suffering from Dengue are admitted to hospitals throughout the Island on a daily basis and the number of fatalities for this year alone has exceeded 400. I am very concerned to learn that the WHO has quoted an infection rate of 390 Million annually worldwide.

As far as I am aware, no drug has been identified that will CURE Dengue. I have however been successful in CURING many hundreds of cases of Dengue with a Homeopathic Remedy which is freely available throughout the world in Homeopathic Pharmacies, and will CURE Dengue in under 24 hours.

The remedy is:
EUPATORIUM PERFOLIATUM 200c in the Wet dose which is made by inserting about 6-8 pellets each 3mm Ø into a 500ml bottle of spring water, available in all supermarkets. The first dose is 2 tablespoonfuls of the medicated water and a teaspoonful of this water is given to the patient every 2 hours till the patient feels better in under 6 hours when the dosage is progressively reduced. Many patients have confirmed that their body aches and headache disappear in under 3 hours while the fever usually comes down to normal in about 24 hours. The Platelet count invariably drops down to very low levels <15000 and many patients have reported that this count increases by around 1000 per dose on the first day and continues to rise to normals levels in 48 hours. It is unfortunate that modern medicine does not accept Homeopathy as a Curative Science and I have had many instances where doctors have frankly admitted that there is no drug in their Pharmacopeia that can cure Dengue. I have tried hard to convince them to use this remedy in the hospitals and have offered to supply it free of charge for test purposes but their response has been negative. They have explained that according to the rules of their Medical Council, they are forbidden to use any Homeopathic remedy under pain of losing their license if they do so. It must be recorded however that some doctors who are friends and had patients in their own families have requested me for a sample which I gave them, and they all confirmed that their patient was cured in a few hours after taking this remedy in some inexplicable manner, which their drugs could not equal. I have tried very hard in Sri Lanka to make the general public and our Government aware of the fact that there is a CURE for Dengue. I have co-opted the daily Newspapers to carry articles by me in their journals and anyone interested can read them on my Website: Treatment Of Dengue Joe De Livera It is my hope that readers of TIME will consider the use of this remedy which is absolutely safe in use, in the event of any members of their families presenting Dengue and record their own experience on your Website. I would also like to add that this remedy will reduce any Fever of Viral origin within a few hours. This remedy can also be used for other ailments like Catarrh and the Common Cold which I have detailed in my Website. I have also had reports of it being used successfully in Nigeria to treat Malaria but I cannot vouch for this, as Malaria has been eradicated in Sri Lanka. I do also hope that TIME will spearhead a breakthrough into the CURE of Dengue worldwide as it can be considered the Duty of all concerned to do everything possible to eradicate Dengue, which is obviously spreading worldwide due to Global Warming. May I suggest that tests are made to use this remedy in the manner I have prescribed, and the results reported in your columns which are read by millions throughout the world. I am confident that these tests, especially if done on a double blind basis, will prove to the world that my remedy will work in the same manner that it has done in Sri Lanka. I hope that at that stage it will be promoted by International bodies like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and others including TIME, to save lives. Many Millions of patients have suffered from Dengue and hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of lives have been lost up to now so very unnecessarily. It is my hope that a concerted effort is made by all who can do so, to eradicate this serious threat to human life.
